Guiding You Toward Clarity and Emotional Balance — with a Mental Health Specialist You Can Trust

I’m Shyamolie Desai, a Clinical Psychologist based in Mumbai with over 12 years of experience helping people overcome anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship challenges through therapy that’s compassionate, insightful, and grounded in science.

A Little About Me — and Why I Do What I Do

From the very beginning of my career, I’ve been deeply curious about what shapes our inner world — how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others. Over time, I’ve learned that when we begin to understand our patterns, we also begin to change them.

As a mental health specialist in Mumbai, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people through a range of experiences — from anxiety and burnout to grief, self-doubt, and relationship difficulties. Each story has reminded me that therapy is not about “fixing” what’s wrong, but about helping people reconnect with their strengths, regain clarity, and move forward with self-compassion.

My approach combines the science of psychology with the humanity of connection. In sessions, I blend Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), and mindfulness-based techniques — always adapting them to fit the person sitting across from me.

Therapy with me is gentle yet structured, professional yet deeply human — a space where you can explore what’s really happening beneath the surface, at a pace that feels right for you.

“Therapy isn’t about changing who you are — it’s about understanding yourself better, so life feels lighter and more aligned.”

Therapy Rooted in Science, Compassion, and Flexibility

My work is guided by an integrative approach — one that draws from several evidence-based therapies and adapts them to meet each client’s unique needs.

I often use:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns.
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to build skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation.
  • Client-Centred Therapy to create a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental space where you can explore freely.
  • Psychodynamic understanding to uncover the deeper emotional roots of recurring patterns and behaviours.

This integrative way of working means therapy is not limited to one model — instead, it’s tailored to you and what works best for your goals and pace.

“Therapy isn’t about fitting into a model — it’s about finding what helps you heal, grow, and move forward.”

A Thoughtful, Ethical, and Human Process

When you start therapy, you can expect a process that’s transparent and grounded in professional ethics.

Here’s what you can count on:

  • A safe and confidential space where you can express yourself freely
  • A non-judgmental and empathetic approach that respects your individuality
  • Evidence-based techniques tailored to your needs
  • Ongoing collaboration — we move at your pace, together

Every session is designed to help you gain insight, self-awareness, and tools you can use long after therapy ends.

An Inclusive and Affirming Practice

As a psychologist, I believe that therapy should be a space where everyone feels safe and accepted — regardless of gender, identity, orientation, or background.

My practice is inclusive and LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and my priority is always to meet you where you are, with respect and openness.

Making Mental Health Accessible to Everyone

Outside my therapy sessions, I’m passionate about mental health awareness and education.

Through workshops, seminars, and my social media platform, I aim to simplify psychological concepts and make emotional wellness part of everyday conversations.

I believe understanding ourselves shouldn’t feel clinical or distant — it should feel natural, like learning to take care of any other part of our well-being.

If You’re Thinking About Starting Therapy

Take the First Step — You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, therapy can help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and find your way forward.

Reaching out can feel uncertain at first — but it’s also an act of courage and self-awareness.

If you’re ready to begin, I’d be glad to walk that journey with you.
